Truck Wheels

Truck wheels are an integral part of distributing the weight that is commonly held on the trucks. Custom trucks can vary on length, but most of the time the width is fairly uniform. The wheels help to distribute the weight of the load onto the road, so double wheel axels are common. Wheel size also helps to contribute to the total potential load of the truck, so the largest dump trucks in the world have wheels well in excess of 10 feet in diameter.

Truck wheels are meant to function for a long line, so steel is the metal of choice in these affairs. Also, depending on the terrain, steel will hold up well in dirty or muddy circumstances, where the alloys would be dented more easily by sidelong rocks and other sizable debris. At the end of the day the truck wheels just need to maintain for as long a duration as possible since the purpose of the truck is to move whatever it is towing as long a distance as possible. The life expectancy for these tires is the number one factor as durability means a longer life steel is always the fallback metal of choice for these tractor trailers.
